Man accused of paying for ex-son-in-law's beating

NEWARK, Del. (AP) - November 14, 2008 Police say after the assault, 66-year-old Wilbur Eichman offered the assailant more money to shoot his ex-son-in-law with a high-powered rifle with a bonus for cutting off the man's genitals and bringing them to him.

After the man was assaulted Thursday at his Newark apartment, police say he got a call from Charles Pernot, who sold him a recording of a conversation with the man Pernot said hired him for the assault.

The man recognized Eichman's voice on the recording and called police.

Eichman is charged with one count of criminal solicitation and Pernot is charged with attempted robbery, attempted burglary and conspiracy.
