A Dutch company has found a way to cut the amount of ink used in printing: make a Swiss-cheese font. The communications company Spranq has come up with the Ecofont, which has holes in the letters and uses about 15 percent less ink.

The company had experimented with using thin letters and zebra-striped letters but those were not readable.

The company's co-founder says the font is not beautiful but it's good enough for personal usage or for internal use at a company.

The font is available for free download.
