Arrest made in weekend crash

CRANSTON HEIGHTS, Del. - December 29, 2008 36-year-old Robert Rash of the 3600 block of Haley Court in Wilmington, has been charged with two felony counts of vehicular assault, DUI, and driving on the wrong side of the road.

The charges stem from a head-on collision that occurred on Friday December, 26 at 7:47 p.m. on Hercules Road near the community of Westminster.

When police arrived, they found a Jeep Cherokee overturned with Rash inside. A second vehicle, a Dodge Stratus with two occupants, had sustained heavy front end damage.

Paramedics removed all three from their vehicles and transported them to Christiana Hospital.

The driver of the Dodge Stratus is a 65-year-old Newark man. The passenger in his vehicle has been identified as his 93-year-old mother. Both suffered serious injuries and remain listed in critical condition at Christiana Hospital.

Rash was released from the hospital on Saturday and charged. He has been arraigned and released on $830 bail.
