McDonald's has had success with its biscuit offering, helping to boost its sales since the company launched the option earlier this year.
But Woody Faulk, Chick-fil-A's vice president of brand development, said the McDonald's biscuit has not cut into the chain's sales, adding that its own customers "have amazing taste pallets" and appreciate the homemade flavor of its biscuits.
"We make these biscuits one at a time," he said.
The Atlanta-based company will give each customer an "invitation" to try a chicken biscuit on Jan. 1 with any purchase. Customers can redeem the coupon on their next visit, through March 28.
The company plans to advertise the promotion during the Chick-fil-A Bowl on Wednesday.
