Police ID man killed in small plane crash

ALEXANDRIA TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - December 31, 2008 State Police Sgt. Steve Jones said 63-year-old Ronald Orton of Easton, Pa. was killed when a single-engine Piper aircraft crashed sometime after 6 p.m. in a wooded area of the rural community about 30 miles northwest of Trenton.

Jones said 56-year-old Peter Schneider of Glen Gardner was injured in the crash, and is in stable condition at St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem, Pa.

The crash occurred about a quarter-mile east of Alexandria Field, a small airport in Pittstown.

Investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration and the New Jersey Division of Aeronautics are investigating the crash.
