Thefts are up at some colleges

Students heading back to college this fall should remember to keep a close eye on their laptops, iPods and other high-tech valuables. Pennsylvania State Police statistics show that reports of theft at some colleges increased last year from previous years. The report also says many of the crimes go unsolved.

It's not just a problem at big-city schools, either.

Shippensburg University campus police Lt. Tom Rumberger says a lot of students come to the rural Cumberland County campus and don't think they're vulnerable to crime.
