Unauthorized art gift to a city

SEATTLE (AP) - August 26, 2009

A gold-colored collection of papier-mFachDe sculptures appeared the other night.

There's a full-size male figure standing on the waterfront, surrounded by what appear to be shells, some with heads of people emerging from them.

The Seattle Times reports a plaque attached to the work says it's a gift to the people of Seattle, and symbolizes that everyone has shells to break through.

The unknown artist also says he or she will remove the sculptures if it starts to rain.
