A former Delaware optometrist who fled the country with his three daughters has pleaded guilty to federal bank fraud and kidnapping charges. Forty-two-year-old David Matusiewicz pleaded guilty Thursday to forging his ex-wife's signature on a home-equity loan in August 2007, then fleeing to Central America with the couple's three young daughters.

Matusiewicz had told his ex-wife, with whom he shared custody, that he was taking the girls to Disney World for two weeks.

Matusiewicz, who will be sentenced Dec. 10, faces up to 30 years on the bank fraud charge, and up to three years on the charge of international parental kidnapping.
