The driver of a tractor trailer lost control of his rig around 7:00 p.m. along I-495 just north of Edgemoor Avenue.
The truck jackknifed, the trailer hit a divider, snapped off, and ruptured a fuel tank.
No injuries were reported, but northbound 495 was shut down due to the accident.
Police are trying to determine if the rainy weather played a role.
