The accident happened at about 6:30 in the westbound lanes of R. 273 (Christiana Road) in front of University Plaza Shopping Center.
The driver of the striking SUV did stop near the scene.
The victim was transported to the hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later. Her identity has not been released.
Delaware State Police are investigating.
