Scoreboard at Penn State damaged by wind

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - October 7, 2009 The university said no one was hurt. At least one car was damaged in a parking lot, and the school shut down two nearby roads as a precaution.

Workers are in the process of installing new panels on the scoreboard.

There was no work Wednesday due to a wind advisory, though part of the scoreboard was left open because of ongoing renovations.

Penn State closed nearby roads before noon after getting damage reports. The National Weather Service reported gusts of up to 39 mph in State College late Wednesday morning.

A team spokesman says there should be no problems for No. 14 Penn State's next game Saturday.
