Jon & Kate appear in Norristown court

NORRISTOWN, Pa. - October 13, 2009 RELATED SLIDESHOW: Jon and Kate as they leave court

The stars of "Jon and Kate Plus 8" were briefly in court Tuesday in the Philadelphia suburb of Norristown.

The couple has been locked in a divorce battle since announcing their separation during an episode in June.

Kate Gosselin has claimed her husband took $230,000 from a joint account, leaving her with just $1,300 and unable to pay household bills.

Jon claimed Kate raided the account of $60,000 over the summer.

Kate's lawyer says Jon has been ordered to return $180,000 which he removed in violation of an arbitrator's order.

The judge told them to come back on October 26th. He wants them to try work something out amiably, and to restore all of the missing money.

Also, by that date, the judge told Kate he wanted her to provide an accounting for the $55,000 she said she spent on houshold bills and the children.

Jon and Kate were in court for less than an hour. They did not speak to each other.

Production on the show has been suspended. Just days after TLC announced it would rename the show "Kate Plus Eight," Jon Gosselin sent the network a cease-and-desist letter.

He claims the show is detrimental to the children.
