Teachers at 3 NJ schools will strike Monday

VINELAND, N.J. (AP) - October 17, 2009 But no job action will occur at a fourth school where a strike was considered, Catholic Teachers Union President Bill Blumenstein said Friday night. Raises and health benefits remain sticking points in negotiations.

Strikes will occur at Holy Spirit in Absecon, Camden Catholic in Cherry Hill and Paul VI in Haddonfield. But no strike will occur at Sacred Heart in Vineland because teachers there have their own contract and felt a job action would be too disruptive, citing its small size and enrollment.

The Camden Diocese says the schools where strikes are planned will remain open.
