He still plans to do music eventually, though. He's planning to record a new CD featuring remakes of Motown songs.

Phil Collins lays off drums for a while
HAMBURG (AP) - October 29, 2009
He tells a German newspaper (Hamburger Abendblatt) he had surgery in
April to repair a dislocated vertebrae in his neck. As a result, he
can't feel his fingers and he can't pick up drum sticks. He says
the only way he could drum is if he were to glue sticks to his
hands.
