A Governor Bacon Health Center nursing assistant is under investigation for an incident in which state officials say a patient fell out of bed while the assistant took personal phone call.

The Delaware Division of Public Health is conducting the investigation into the fall Monday morning by the patient, who suffered a fractured skull. State officials say the certified nursing assistant has been removed from direct patient care until the probe is complete.

Officials said the worker left an 82-year-old woman alone to take a personal phone call without making sure the patient would be safe.

She was treated at Christiana Hospital and returned Monday afternoon to Governor Bacon.
