"This Sunday, November 8, 2009, from noon until four," explains City of Hope's Harry Giordano. "They offer all their services. And they offer it at a discounted rate and 100% of the proceeds go to City of Hope to fight cancer, HIV/AIDS and diabetes."
In this economy, many people are stretching the time between their appointments and many salons are feeling the pinch. Still, more salon owners than ever has stepped up to participate.
"As a company, we always believed in giving back to the community," says salon owner Stephen Falvo. "And the whole Hope Cuts is something that's always been near and dear to my heart. And my staff as well, because we all feel we've been touched by someone with cancer or AIDS."
The services and discounts being offered vary from salon to salon. But the goal -- which is raise hundreds of thousands for research, treatment and education for cancer, HIV/AIDS and diabetes -- is the same no matter where you make an appointment.
