The handicapped parking space in front of Dan McBride's house on Meridian Street in Mayfair is empty.
Sometime between midnight and 4:00 a.m. Sunday, someone stole his specially-equipped van and the Rascal scooter that was stored inside it
"I could never do that to somebody, climb into a car and climb around the equipment and not be affected by that. It's just wrong," Dan said.
The missing van is a 7-passenger Ford E-150 with windows. It has hand controls on the front dash and a lift in the back that enabled Dan to get his scooter in and out.
The license plate reads PD3942F.
Without the van, Dan is dependent on friends and family for rides.
He says he just wants to get the van back.
"If you did it and you realize you made a mistake, just let somebody know. I'm hoping to get it back. It shouldn't happen to people that way," Dan said.
Anyone with information about the van should call 15th District police.
