The accident was reported around 8:00 a.m. along the southbound lanes of I-295 between exits 27 and 28.
Rescue crews were able to extricate the victim from the wreckage. No word yet on the extent of injuries nor on how the accident occurred.
Southbound traffic was at a complete standstill for hours while crews worked to clear the scene.
All lanes have since reopened.
