Accident causes major backup on NJ Turnpike

MT. LAUREL, N.J. - November 28, 2009

The accident occurred at around 1:00 p.m. in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey, just below exit 5 in the southbound lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike.

Reports indicate a tractor trailer carrying paper products struck the Creek Road overpass and became completely engulfed in flames.

According to officials, southbound traffic has to veer off turnpike at exit 7. Northbound lanes are still experiencing a 3-mile delay.

Creek Road remains closed at the turnpike.

The accident has been cleared to the side of the road.

The driver of the tractor trailer was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
