The victim' name is being withheld until members of the victim's family have been notified.
Witnesses at the scene supplied investigating officers with a description of the vehicle and driver that struck and killed the elderly female. The description of the striking vehicle and driver is as follows:
Vehicle: newer model white of light gray work van with a ladder on top and two rear tinted windows.
Driver: White male; late 40s to 50 years old; clean shaven with short hair.
After striking the elderly victim, the driver stopped got out of his vehicle looked around and then fled in the van eastbound on Church Road.
The Cheltenham Police Department is asking for help from the public with any information on the striking vehicle and the driver to contact the anonymous phone line at 215-885-1600 ext. 777.
