The crash involved two cars colliding near exit 33.
21-year-old Michael Pitoscia of Williamstown was in one car.
55-year-old Joseph Cava of Philadelphia and 45-year-old James Murphy of Brookhaven were in the other vehicle.
Pitoscia was unconscious when police arrived. Cava and Murphy were trapped in their vehicle.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene and the other two victims were flown to Cooper Hospital where they later died.
The New Jersey State police are trying to find out how the accident occurred.
The two-car crash temporarily closed the eastbound lanes of the Atlantic City Expressway. The wreckage has since been pushed to the side and traffic is now getting by.
