Members of the city's Board of Revision of Taxes announced a unanimous decision Wednesday to sign over assessment control to Mayor Michael Nutter's office.
The independent agency had been in charge of property assessments for all properties in the city as well as appeals. The mayor's office says assessments will be fairer under the planned Actual Value Initiative.
The board has drawn heavy criticism since The Philadelphia Inquirer published reports that have raised questions about the management of the agency and the accuracy of its assessments.
