The deadly accident happened at around 3:30 p.m. at 30th Street Station.
A person was hit by a Market-Frankford El while it was pulling in to the station.
The person was pronounced dead at the scene.
SEPTA said was shuttling bussing between 15th and 40th Streets until the track was brought back to service.
Philadelphia police are investigating.
