A student approached a William Penn High School employee Friday afternoon to say he saw a 16-year-old with a gun at the school near New Castle.
The school resource officer searched the student at the school's main office and found the gun. Police later learned it had been stolen in Wilmington.
Police say the investigation is continuing but charges are pending.
No one was injured and police haven't released the teen's name.
