The fire broke out late Tuesday night in a home on the 600 block of Walnut Street.
Just as firefighters were entering the home, they had to pull back moments before the roof collapsed.
No one was injured and everyone inside the house got out safely.
Several other homes were evacuated.
The Red Cross is helping 13 people left homeless by the fire.
There is no word yet on the cause.
