The fire broke out on the 2900 block of Tulip Street in Port Richmond before midnight.
Firefighters doused heavy flames on the second floor. That is where crews found the man's body, shortly after they placed the fire under control.
Investigators said they did find a smoke detector in the home, but it was not working.
So far, there is no word on a cause.
