County police spokesman Senior Cpl. Trinidad Navarro says 29-year-old Angel Sanchez was charged with two counts of assault on a police officer and resisting arrest with force after the Thursday incident.
Navarro says the officers were investigating a report of a man repeatedly knocking on an apartment door. He says Sanchez ran away when the officers spoke to him and the officers suffered bruises in a fight that happened after they caught up with him.
Authorities say his mother, 51-year-old Mercedes Hernandez, was charged after jumping on the officers in an attempt to help her son.
