1,300 participants embark on Tour de Shore

PHILADELPHIA - July 18, 2010

Action News was there for the start of the 23rd Annual Irish Pub Tour de Shore. It's a 65-mile ride from Center City to the Irish Pub in Atlantic City.

The organizer, former Philadelphia Police Commissioner John Timoney, described the fantastic turnout of 1,300 riders.

"We've raised over a quarter of a million dollars so far, we are close to $300,000. This is a fantastic event for the Daniel Faulkner Education Fund, for the PAL, the Police Athletic League here in Philadelphia. Just a great turnout, so ... happy to be here," said Timoney.

Organizers say 18,000 bottles of water were on hand for the riders. As well as 18,000 bottles of beer at Atlantic City.

Busses were on hand to bring the riders back to Philadelphia.
