Residents: not all is right with the water

PLUMSTEAD TWP, Pa. - July 23, 2010

At the time of June 29th warehouse fire, residents were concerned about chemicals inside, but today, authorities say they were nontoxic food additives.

Stephanie and Rob Bradley who live nearby think something in the runoff has contaminated their well water.

"I went to mix a bottle for my son and I noticed the water smelled, had a colored tinge to it," Stephanie said.

The Bradleys say after the fire their water developed a putrid odor and it comes out of the tap with a yellowish color. Plus, maybe most unsettling, it foams on its own, no detergents added.

Initially, the official response seemed tepid. Some suggested it was just the Bradley's well.

"I had to be very persistent in my push for help," Rob said.

When troubles spread to neighboring houses, an investigation kicked into high gear.

Test results are pending.

The Bradleys believe something from that fire flowed into the now dark uninviting stream and has made his well water undrinkable.

The drinking water samples are at the lab. The Health Department said today it hope to have results in about a week's time.

That is not soon enough for the Bradley family and some of their neighbors.
