Police say it all started around 1:30 Tuesday morning inside the Pike Bar at Germantown Avenue and Pike Street in the Tioga-Nicetown section of the city.
When the two men took their confrontation outside the bar, one of them opened fire and shot the other man several times.
Police say it looks like the other man returned fire.
The second man, 32-years-old, was taken to the hospital where he died.
The man who shot him remains on the loose.
So far, investigators have not indicated what precipitated the fight, or if they know who shot and killed the man.
