The accident occurred along the 200 block of East Sproul Road just before 5:00 p.m.
According to police, the SUV collided with a traffic light pole and a tree.
The driver of the SUV, a 47-year-old female from Newtown Square, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger of the SUV was flown to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia with non-life-threatening injuries.
As a result of the crash, power was out in the area for approximately three hours.
The crash remains under investigation.
The identities of the driver and passenger are being withheld pending notification of family.
