Forty-five-year-old Vernon Bridges was sentenced Friday in Beaver County Court. Jurors convicted him in July of aggravated and simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and a weapons offense, but acquitted him of attempted homicide.
Police said the Ambridge resident stabbed 48-year-old Ronald Book, who lived in the same apartment building at the time, after a Nov. 26 argument. Book had to get 40 staples for the stomach wound. Bridges said he acted in self-defense.
