It happened around 10:45 a.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of North York Road.
There, police say, the elderly woman was on the sidewalk when a car, driven by a 17-year old male Upper Moreland student, failed to properly execute a left hand turn off of York Road onto Reed Street.
The elderly woman, who has not yet been identified, was rushed to the hospital.
The vehicle did stay at the scene, police said.
Police say the student is cooperating and at this time and no charges have been filed.
