EXCLUSIVE: South Street Bridge targeted by vandals

UNIVERSITY CITY - November 7, 2010

Only Action News was there when police took the three suspects into custody.

The incident started at approximately 2:47 Sunday morning when the troopers were on patrol and noticed the three males in the tunnel on the Schuylkill Expressway leading to the South Street Bridge walking away from a freshly painted graffiti tagging in the tunnel.

The troopers pulled over on the Schuylkill and that is when the three men took off on foot, down the Expressway and then onto the Amtrak train tracks near the 30th Street.

One male was apprehended on the tracks. The other two continued running on the tracks and eventually dipped into a parking garage on 30th Street between Walnut Street and Chestnut Street where they were apprehended on the top floor of the garage.

Upon apprehension, a search was conducted and a can of spray paint was found on one of the suspects.

State Police took all three suspects into custody and they will be charged for the damage as well as eluding the police.

The suspects have been identified as 30-year-old John David Marks and 25-year-old Kyle Joseph Segeske. The third suspect's identity is being withheld because he is only 16-years-old.

Police say the suspects indicated they were en route to graffiti the newly constructed South Street Bridge.

The tags left in the Expressway tunnel are estimated in excess of $500.
