Homebrewers finally getting a break

SALEM, Ore. (AP) - February 24, 2011

The state Senate has approved a bill that would allow amateurs to share their brew outside their homes.

It's now illegal for do-it-yourselfers in Oregon to hold friendly tastings or contests.

The Oregonian newspaper reports the state has an estimated 20,000 home brewers and winemakers.

The bill must still pass the state House.
