The 8-year-old boy who died late Thursday morning after being struck by a hit and run driver in Camden County has been identified.

Jahmil Alford, of Pennsauken, died at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Cooper University Hospital.

Michael Finkelman, 57, of the 100 block of Woodburn Drive in Pine Hill, was arrested Wednesday night and charged with leaving the scene of an accident.

It happened on the South White Horse Pike and East Elm Avenue in Lindenwold, New Jersey.

According to police, it was around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday when the child and relatives were heading to the nearby PATCO station after spending time at Clementon Park.

That's when Finkelman, driving a 1988 Oldsmobile station wagon, allegedly struck Alford as he crossed the street and then drove away.

Another motorist followed the striking vehicle after the child was hit and reported his license plate number to law enforcement.
