Crews battle 2-alarm apartment fire in Drexel Hill

DREXEL HILL, Pa. - August 12, 2011

The fire was reported just before 10:30 a.m. at an apartment building located on Garrett Road.

The fire quickly rose to two alarms but was brought under control at 10:45 a.m. - about 20 minutes after fire crews were dispatched.

There are no reports of injuries at this time.

Authorities have not yet determined what sparked the fire.

The Red Cross says 8 units were affected by the fire and 12 people are temporarily displaced. At this time, the Red Cross is providing shelter for a family of 3 and money for food and clothing to another individual.

The rest of the residents have somewhere to stay and have been allowed to gather some belongings from their apartments.
