Phillies place Cole Hamels on 15-day DL

PHILADELPHIA - August 23, 2011

His placement is retroactive to August 13th.

The left-hander had been scheduled to take the mound on Friday against the Marlins.

Hamels, who is eligible to come off the disabled list on Sunday, August 28, is scheduled to start the Phillies' series opener the next day in Cincinnati on August 29.

The 2011 National League All-Star last pitched on August 12 against Washington at Citizens Bank Park. 

To take his place on the roster, the Phillies have recalled Pete Orr from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Orr, 32, has hit .271 with five home runs and 25 RBI in 68 games for Lehigh Valley in 2011. This marks the third stint of the season with the Phillies for Orr, who made the club's Opening Day roster.  In his 29 games for the Phillies, Orr has hit .238 with three RBI.
