Pa. chiropractor sentenced in 2008 office arson

PHILADELPHIA - September 9, 2011

A jury convicted 59-year-old Jonathan Wiktorchik Jr. in March of charges including arson and insurance fraud in the 2008 fire in Ottsville, Bucks County.

Prosecutors say Wiktorchik torched his office using gasoline as an audit loomed following a health insurance fraud conviction. Wiktorchik first claimed he was camping with his son when the fire started, then later claimed he was assaulted by a group of Spanish-speaking gang members who set the blaze.

U.S. District Court Judge Robert F. Kelly on Friday also ordered Wiktorchik to pay $1.5 million in restitution.
