NJ bishop to begin dialysis for kidney disease

CAMDEN, N.J. - September 30, 2011

The 73-year-old told his flock in a letter that he has been treated for Type II diabetes for 11 years and for failing kidneys for little more than a year.

Diocese spokesman Peter Feuerherd told The Courier-Post of Cherry Hill it is not expected that Galante will be replaced any time soon.

Galante has led the Camden diocese since April 2004.

The diocese serves 500,000 parishioners in southern New Jersey.
