The News-Journal in Wilmington reports that the suspect walked up behind Marcus Ware around 3:05 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the Sunoco station. He fired several shots and fled on foot.
Police say the suspect was wearing a black, hooded sweat jacket, jeans and possibly tan, work-type boots.
Ware lived in the Pennyhill section of Wilmington. His aunt says she doesn't know why he was in Dover, but they have family in the area.
Police Chief James Hosfelt says the gas station is a common gathering place after nearby clubs close down on the weekends.
