Assistant high school coach dies in parkway crash

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. - October 17, 2011

A middle school teacher and assistant high school football coach died after he was hit following a two-car crash on the Garden State Parkway.

State Police Sgt. Brian Polite says John Key's vehicle collided with another in Wall Township early Sunday. Polite says the 37-year-old had checked on the occupants in the other car and was crossing four lanes on foot when he was hit by another vehicle.

Asbury school board President Gregory Hopson told the Asbury Park Press the father of two young children was "a light in the community."
