Police: Delco mom stabbed child, started fires

PROSPECT PARK, Pa. - November 7, 2011

It all began around 5:00 p.m. Friday when police were called to the 500 block of Baltimore Avenue in Prospect Park for a report of an injured person.

When they arrived, officers discovered a 10-year-old boy who had been stabbed, but managed to escape to a neighbor's home for help.

Officers learned the child's mother was still at home and, when officers arrived at the back door, they discovered the door was locked and there was a smell of gasoline.

Police entered through the unlocked front door and saw light smoke and a gas can in the kitchen.

The officers then went to the second floor and found the suspect, Nora Doyle, attempting to cut her forearm in the bedroom - with another fire burning.

Both Doyle and her son were taken to the hospital in an unknown condition.

Additional information on charges against Doyle are expected later Monday.
