It happened early this morning on the 2700 block of North Broad Street near Lehigh Avenue.
Both vehicles were travelling south on Broad Street when one car slammed into the other.
The impact of the crash caused the second vehicle to swerve into the northbound lanes, striking a pole and flipping over before hitting the curb.
The driver of the first car fled the scene a short time later.
Two people, both in the second vehicle, sustained injuries and were transported to Temple University Hospital.
The driver, a 34-year-old male is listed in critical but stable condition. The passenger, a 32-year-old male suffered only minor injuries.
No description has been released for the vehicle that fled.
