Police were called to 5th and South Streets at 3:53 p.m. Thursday for the report of a man shot on the street. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, a man in his early 20's, with a gunshot wound to the upper leg.
It was quickly determined that the man had actually been shot several blocks away at 5th and Wharton streets.
Philadelphia fire medics responded and rushed the man Thomas Jefferson University Hospital for care. He is expected to survive his wounds.
At this time there is no word on a suspect or a motive in connection with the shooting.
