Thanksgiving weekend wrecks in Pa. down from 2010

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - November 29, 2011

While tragic, it was actually a decline from last year, when 17 people died in highway accidents.

Five of this year's deaths involved people who were not wearing seat belts.

State troopers handled more than 1,000 crashes over the five-day holiday period.

One hundred of them involved drunk drivers.

The accidents injured 326 people.

Troopers also charged 417 people with driving under the influence.
