Police responded to the scene at about 9:15 a.m. for an accident involving a car and a van.
Police say the driver of the car was trapped in his vehicle.
Rescuers reported freeing that person from the wreckage within about 20 minutes.
At first, police diverted traffic off of I-495 onto Philadelphia Pike, then closed all lanes backing up traffic for a few miles.
The roadway reopened at 9:55 a.m.
