2 EMTs charged with theft of more than $20K

MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. - December 9, 2011

21-year-old Brandon Morrison of Tabernacle was charged with theft by deception, computer theft, and impersonation.

Morrison was the Treasurer and a Captain of the squad. He is accused of purchasing more than $19,800 worth of items with squad funds that were not approved by the organization's finance committee. The items include a laptop, boots, clothing and knives. Morrison forged checks to pay for the items and kept them for personal use. The total amount of the forged checks totals about $6,000.

Twenty-four year-old Jonathan Hinshaw of Voorhees, was charged with theft by deception. He was the President of the organization. He is accused of accepting a forged check made out to him in the amount of $485.75.

The thefts happened between February and October of 2011.

Morrison and Hinshaw were taken into police custody Thursday afternoon at the Pemberton Township Police Department and were released after posting bail.
