Family escapes burning home in South Philly

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA - December 14, 2011

The fire was reported around 5:20 a.m. at a home on the 600 block of Cross Street. Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire on the second floor of the house.

A family was able to get out of the home safely. There do not appear to be any injuries at this time.

At least two neighboring properties were evacuated as well. No word yet if those properties sustained damage.

Officials blocked traffic in the area or 6th and 7th and Tasker streets while crews remained on scene.
