The fire broke out Wednesday night in the 4100 hundred block of North Marshall Street.
Heavy flames were reported at the two story house on the arrival of fire crews.
A resident was reported trapped, but he escaped without injury.
The fire was brought under control within 25 minutes.
The fireman was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center for minor injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
